Great post. I love receiving a thank you note! And I always sent one. I have always made my now 14 year old send thank you notes. And the steps you posted are now I taught him. It is simple!

...And almost a lost art. So many of today's youth (and even some adults) don't even bother to send them anymore. I don't think children are being brought up to do that anymore.

Because I am so "old school", (HA) I drilled the importance of that in my kids and it became something ingrained in them. My son wasn't the best about writing notes but he always expressed gratitude for anything he received via a call or a visit if possible.

I believe there is something very special about receiving a hand written note. Perhaps it is the idea that someone thought enough of you to spend the time to hand write you a special note in this busy day and age.

I have at least 100, probably less since I had to dig in to my stash this weekend. Thank you cards are amazing! I never receive them, but I LOVE to give them! :)

I certainly agree with that! When I was little I was a "what if" kind of child, always worrying about every little thing. As I have aged I now find myself saying "Oh well". Drastic change for me!

Well, this is definitely a step or two up compared to the St. Giles Hotel. This looks gorgeous!

We were in New York several years ago on a staff get together with husband's work and stayed at the W Hotel in Manhattan. It was really a nice place. We went to a play, shopping in Soho, and ate at a Jewish deli (which I loved) as our host was Jewish. All in all a very enjoyable weekend!

Btw: I once stayed at a Motel 6 that was one of the worst places I have ever stayed in. I was on a trip with a friend who's husband booked the room in an area around where they once lived that had since turned pretty seedy. I never left my room!! HA "Leaving the light on" was not an option here! HA

It doesn't sound much better than a Motel 6. Did they leave the light on? LOL LOL

It seems ashamed to spend good money only to find out the room is depressing. (I've seem my share of them too) We stayed in a new Comfort Inn and our room was so nice. Beautiful white duvets, lovely decor but no Philosophy toiletries....sigh. Guess they thought if they put upscale toiletries in the St Giles Hotel, The Court it would make up the difference! LOL

Disappointing. I guess you know where 'not'...

I always look forward to your thought for the weekend. You will have to tell us what YOU did this past weekend! Hey, guess what happened...that movie premiere that I was going to come to New York City to see got cancelled at the last minute. They are sending me a refund and two movie passes...I will send the passes to you.
