Blessings for a Fantastic 2013

For 2013, I will be more patient and I will drink more wine.

How about you?

Yolanda Adams' Jingle Bells - Best Version of the Song EVER

I remember this performance from a few years ago during the annual White House Christmas Special.

It was phenomenal then and it is even better years later.

Wishing all of you a blessed Christmas!

I cannot get this song by Straight No Chaser out of my head.

Just love it!

My Turquoise White and Silver Christmas Trees

It seems that as I get older, I want to decorate more simply for Christmas.

While I still seek bargains and love to shop, I just don't feel the need to go all out and decorate every surface of my home in every color possible.

My favorite color is turquoise so this year, I used many items for my Christmas decorations that I have on display year round and stuck to turquoise, white and silver.
Hand-glittered deer snuggled in white feather boas.
On my coffee table, trees purchased on mega sales at Target and the old Borders store.
Fully decorated with glitterly fabric purchased at JoAnns for $3.49/yard. I want to snatch up every color.
This tree is a perfect match for my decor - $1.99 at The Christmas Tree Shops.
My turquoise glitter foam tree I made along with my Orange Glo ornament atop a dollar candlestick from The Dollar Store.
A beachy ornament made before Hurricane Sandy destroyed my beach.
The clear votive on the left is so sparkly and was recently purchased at IKEA for $1.99. The mercury glass votive on the right is just as sparkly and was $1.99 at Target.
Another tabletop with turquoise fabric from JoAnns.
Not sure if I simplified things but sticking with one color scheme in my favorite color sure does make me joyful.

What colors are you decorating with this season?

Handmade Glitter Ornaments Using Orange Glo and Martha Stewart Glitter

Last Christmas, I blogged here about using Orange Glo wood floor polish to glitter ornaments.

Well, lo and behold, it has been pinned on Pinterest like crazy!

So, I thought I would revisit the project and glitter some more.

My colors this Christmas are turquoise, silver and white (more about this in another post), so I used all of the different shades of these colors that I have.

Here is what you need:
Spray about 4-6 squirts of Orange Glo into your ornament. Better to have too much than too little.

Hold a paper towel over the opening and shake shake shake.
Then, turn the ornament over on a paper towel to drain (when done, you can use what is on the paper towel to polish some floors - no waste here!).

Do not allow to dry. Next, pore some Martha Stewart glitter into the ornament and with another paper towel over the opening, shake again until the inside surface of the ornament is fully covered.
Tap out the excess into the jar of glitter.
Here are the fan-tabulous ornaments and the colors of glitter I used.
And, on my white, turquoise and silver tree.
The six ornaments were originally $4.99 at Michaels but I purchased them on sale for 50% off making each ornament about 42 cents to make!

I just love them and will be making many this Christmas as gifts.

What are you crafting up this Christmas?
