Foodie Pen Pals

Lindsay of the blog The Lean Green Bean has a fantastic program called Foodie PenPals.

Once a month, each participant gets assigned at random a pen pal and what you do is you send your penpal $15 worth of food.

Exciting to see what you receive and fun to shop for your Foodie Pen Pal.

With over 600 participants, she has quite the task.

April was my first month and the person who sent me my box was Heather of Ohayo Bento.

This is what I received.
I loved everything except for all the Japanese food.  If I can't read the label, I don't eat it.

You can see what I sent to my Foodie Pen Pal over at Kristen's blog - 7 Degrees.

Ohhh this does sound fun! I'd be the same 'can't read it, can't eat it'.

I'm so sorry, I didn't realize that you wouldn't try them. Bummer :( I'm glad you liked the other stuff!

This is a nice idea sorta like a grab bag of goodies. A great way to introduce new food items that you otherwise might not try. Although, I also don't eat food that I can't ready the label of.

I have tried quinoa and the only way I found that I could eat it was in a citrus salad. (Central Market or HEB makes it in their deli) I know it is supposed to be very good for you but honestly, it has a horrible taste! I love most foods, some that most people hate but this is one food that I just can't eat! HA

What a fun idea! I wouldn't try anything I couldn't read either :)

Hey, I read the post of what you gave. Mind sending me the white bean cesar salad recipe? Sounds yummy!

Nice little assortment but I agree if I cannot read something (although I do eat italian food in italian labels) chances are I won't try it. She could have labeled those with what they were for you. I enjoyed my month but have not joined in after that as just too busy with my blog.
Thanx for the post!!

This looks like a fun experience. I read also about the person who sent you the box and the person that got the box from you...that was interesting.

Oh that's such a fun idea! why not try it though, you don't have to be able to read it to know if it tastes good! :)

I saw your blog was one of Rosemary's favorite blogs on NYC, Style and a little cannoli and wanted to check it out. I am really enjoying it. I had a Foodie Pen pal in April and enjoyed participating in it. I will probably do it again in the fall. Have a great day.
