Prince Harry. The Hotter Brother.

I have always felt that Prince Harry is the hotter of Princess Diana's sons.

Even more so now after seeing this cover of the UK's May issue of GQ.A bit devious and oh so delicious.

I just had to take a photo of this sign I saw recently on a store window in Manhattan.

New York Spring Water

After a meeting in Manhattan, I popped into Duane Reade to pick up a bottle of water.

I find that it is most always cheaper to buy beverages at Duane Reade than at a fast-food place or a corner bodega.

I was delighted to see the Statue of Liberty staring at me from the beverage center. How fun is this bottle? NY water baby!

Flowers from Trader Joes are the Best

I think the flowers at Trader Joes are the absolute best.I have never purchased a "bad" flower from TJ's. The prices cannot be beat.

I recently purchased this beautiful gardenia plant.
Gardenias were my mom's favorite flower. I have not tried to take care of gardenias since she passed 19 years ago. We had a gardenia plant and the day she died, the plant died too.

The flowers are so fragrant and lush.10 tulips for $4.99 is a deal I cannot pass up.

I Have Never Eaten a Peeps. Have You?

Every Easter, I hear about Peeps. But, I have never eaten one.

With turquoise being my favorite color, I just had to pick these up.As Easter was the last holiday I spent with my brother, I just couldn't bring myself to decorate for the holiday this year. So, these Peeps are as good as it will get.

Love the color, but I must say, not a fan.

I did do a simple spring tablescape. Simple is sometimes the best way to decorate.

The Two Days of the Year I Dread

And these days are . . . the days I switch my clothes from winter to spring and from spring to winter.

Why do I dread these days?

Because I am the epitome of that statistic, "you wear 20% of your clothes 80% of the time."

I also don't like switching my clothes because they are reminders of all I didn't do this winter and therefore all I did not wear.

When I organize my clothes, I use this FlipFold to fold them. It is amazing and everything is all neat and nice and the same size.Sad that some clothes were still so neatly folded from not having worn them. Here are some of the 100% of my clothes that I wore only 20% of the time this winter. And some of my clothes waiting to be worn. Let's hope for a fun summer so I can wear them all. This spring however saw me cry for another reason when I was switching my clothes.

I came across the shirt I was wearing the day I found out my brother had passed away.

It was a new shirt I had just purchased from Lands End. A cotton cardigan in my favorite color, turquoise, it was the first time I wore it. And it will be the last.

I wore it from 7:30am that day until 2am the following morning.

I don't need the shirt to remind me of that day. I remember that day every day as if it were yesterday.

Off to my church's thrift store it goes, along with about 25 other clothing items.I just wish that awful day could go along with it.

Recycling Fake Flowers, Again and Again

While hurting for some crafty things to blog about, I thought I'd share the joy of recycling fake flowers - again and again.

Last year, I blogged about spring garlands that I had on hand for years.I turned these garlands into last year's spring wreath. For this spring's door decoration, I didn't want to hang the same wreath. So I disassembled it (ripped the flowers off the form) and saved them which is so unlike me. If not for the constant inspiration of fellow bloggers, I would've thrown them out.

I turned this spring garland-turned wreath into a palm cross for my mom.Thrifty and pretty if I do say so myself.

Internet Explorer 9 and Blogger Not Compatible

Okay. So I am pissed!

I downloaded Internet Explorer 9 thinking it was a fully-functioning search engine.

Well, it is not. It is the beta version.

I attempted to publish blogger posts but with this version of Internet Explorer, I was unable to. I actually wasn't able to do much of anything.

After about 30 minutes of frustration, I uninstalled IE9 and all is well in Blogger world.

Is anyone else having issues with the "new and crappy" version of IE9?

Better Homes and Gardens Pasta Cookbook Review

And now, back to cooking.

I was hesitant about cooking a recipe from Better Homes and Gardens Pasta Cooking for Today cookbook as I did not like the last BHG cookbook I cooked from. All about pasta, this cookbook is broken down into sections such as saucy favorites, side dish, salads . . . I chose this recipe in the from the oven section. Here are the ingredients I used.I replaced parmigiana with pecorino.I'd say my version looks pretty close to the original. This was just okay for me which is surprising because this I-talian hasn't really had a bad pasta experience.

I like a bit more spice in my dishes so this recipe could've used some hot red pepper flakes.

I will definitely cook some other recipes from this cookbook. Maybe just not this one.

What's your favorite pasta dish?

What Kind Of Nut Are You?

A while back, I read an article in an issue of Good Housekeeping.

Apparently, your favorite nut reveals what kind of person you are.

I love pecans which makes me generous, considerate and a devoted, loyal friend. That's me!

I also love cashews making me dependable and easygoing. SPOT ON!

If you prefer peanuts, you are extroverted and charming and crave attention.

Almonds? You have high standards and are a perfectionist.

Walnuts? Competitive and easily annoyed.

Hand Made Palm Crosses

Last year, I blogged about making a Palm Cross for my mom. I wrote about how I do not like the prepared ones but like to add my personal touch to them.

This year, I had to make two - one for my mom and one for my brother.

Totally sucks but I like the fact that these are handmade by me with lots of love.

Here they are fresh from the supermarket. This is the one I made for my mom. Here is my brother's.Do you place palm crosses near the graves of your loved ones?

I have kept journals since I was 15.

Usually just pen to paper but after seeing this video, I may need to get more creative.

From The Pleasing Hour to How to be Single - What are you Reading?

I have had this book on my shelf for years. And, after reading it, it could have stayed on my shelf and I would not have been any worse off.

Set in France, I had visions of being transported to the city of lights. Instead, I was transported on the first train to boredom.

Have you ever read a book and afterwards thought, how did I allow so much of my precious time, time that I cannot get back, be wasted? That was this book.

Now, I am starting this read. This book received mixed reviews on Amazon. It is written by the co-writer of He's Just Not That Into You.

Have any of you read this book?

Will I be upset with wasting my time again?

Pity Party of One. No Invitation Needed.

Lately, on Wednesdays, I have been blogging about a recipe I cook from one of my cookbooks.

I just couldn't cook anything for this week's Cookbook Challenge.

I have been in one of those moods lately.

You see, I am coming up on the one-year anniversary of my brother's passing and it seems that these last two months, as the date approaches, have been harder than others.

Of all the years in my life, no year has flown by as fast as this year has.

I have not slept through the night since his passing. I am so in need of sleep that last night, I finally broke down and took two Tylenol PMs and they didn't help.

I keep dreaming of coffins and funerals.

And, I am angry. I wake up angry and I don't like this.

My brother took his life and there are so many unanswered questions; questions that will never be answered.

I am angry with many people regarding my brother's passing. I remember every cruel thing people said and they are outweighing all of the good things said.

As a Single Nester, I feel alone.

It has to stop.

Life is for the living and I must enjoy this one.image

Picture Frame Necklace Organizer - Revisited

A year ago, I blogged about a Picture Frame Necklace Organizer that I created.

You can read about it here.

I love this project. It is like artwork to me and as I look at it every day, it brings a smile to my face.

This is what it looks like today. This is only part of my necklace collection and I am glad the wall doesn't come down.

Just like my lipgloss addiction post, I think I may need a 12-step group!

Jack Jones and Joanie Sommers - Call Me

I just love this video. So fun!

And I think it is funny how he is snuggling her ear but really, what he is doing is looking over her shoulder, reading the cue cards for the song's lyrics. No teleprompters back then.
