For $10/month, I figured let's give this a try.
My first Birch Box arrived yesterday.
Zebra print press-on nail decales (what am I, 12?), a cheesy string bracelet celebrating their 1 year anniversary, minscule size samples of I don't know what since I was so infuriated to look thinking that I had just wasted $10, a sample perfume vial that I could get at my local department store, and some powder foundation.
Really?
I immediately canceled my membership. What a waste?
Has anyone else had experience with the Birch Box?

What a joke! I've never heard of Birch Box and I definitely won't be signing up now!
Woo! Glad you posted this because I had considered signing up. You would think for your first shipment they would go out of their way to give you some sweet stuff. I agree. What crap! :P
Have not heard of Birch Box and now don't want to. I really like hands on when choosing my cosmetics--hence, no Avon or Mary Kay!!
Best,
Bonnie
oh em gee, this always looks so good! maybe the other blogger only posts when they get good stuff??
That's so poop! I signed up to something similar but cancelled after chucking most things away!
I've never heard of Birch Box and appreciate the heads up. It is shameful that people will take your money and send you junk like that. Even websites that offer discounts on beauty and hair products can be unscrupulous. I am dealing with Your Beauty Shop now about an order I placed that I never received. I guess that is how we learn who are reputable and who aren't. It's a crime!

I've actually seen a lot of ladies disappointed with their birch boxes as of late, which is pretty much why I completely lost all interest in signing up myself. Honestly, seems to me more like a joke than anything else... No matter what, you're always going to get at least one thing that you won't use. I get enough beauty samples for free anyway - I mean, Sephora gives you 3 with each order. And like you said, the counters give out those mini perfume vials every day. Any who, I'm sorry your $10 was wasted! :( Here's a link to a video you may get a kick out of:

Actually you got some good items in your birchbox. The bracelet is a little bit of a waste, but compared to what some others have got, I think your box is a win.
Mine contained the bracelet, the jouer lip enhancer, a pangea organics moisturizer, a perfume sample and the incoco nail strips.
For $10 a month I am happy to receive these items and I am a big fan of birchbox.
There are other companies to try though, such as gogogirlfriend and the new beauty test tube, if you are not already familiar with those.
Oh No! I'm waiting for my first shipment from them. I'm sad to see your stuff...doesn't look all that great. :/
Thanks for the heads up, I definitely won't be trying these out! :)
I'd imagine that a lot of the $10.00 goes towards shipping costs.
Wonder how many people cancel after the first month like you did. Can't be good for their business.
I think you expected too much for just spending $10 a month. Beauty products (esp high end) are pretty expensive. The foundation and the samples of cream look like a decent size for just trying it out. You're definitely not going to get anything bigger for $10 a month.
I have heard though that glossybox (UK based) gives larger, better samples and they are coming to the U.S. soon.
I just received my first Birch Box shipment yesterday and I'm extremely disappointed. Mine is worse than what's posted above: 2 tiny 1 x 1 packets of lotion, a miniscule tube of clay mask, 2 cardboard "drink coasters" (yeah, whatever) and a tiny vial of....get this....Shalimar perfume. What a gyp.
Have you tried the Colorescience? I love it and bought the full size. Send it to me if you don't want it, seriously! :) That trial size lasted me so long and I'd love a mini!
