Who Knew Mosquitos had so Much Blood and Conceal by Yankee Candle

I have had it with mosquitos.

I recently heard a report that this is the worst summer in many years.

My hands are sore from clapping them together hoping to ensnare (kill) the bastards between my palms.

Who knew mosquitos had so much blood? Look at the nice mark left behind on my dragonfly curtains.I have tons of products that are supposed to protect my delicate skin from bites. They work just okay. But, I recently found the most AMAZING product. Conceal by the Yankee Candle Company..They have something in them called linalool. When I tell you that I lit a candle and was outside reading for over 5 hours without one bite, I mean it! I was so pleasantly surprised. And, for only $4.99 for 4 votives, well worth every penny!!

While in the house, I spray myself with Avon's Skin-So-Soft body oil spray.I am not sure if it is an old wive's tale that this is supposed to work but I haven't been bit inside my home since using it. And, my skin is nice and soft too.

While playing golf, I use Avon's Bug Guard Spray and SPF.A few years ago, I was bitten by a tic. Never knew it until I saw that tell-tale ring. I caught it early enough using antibiotics but I am so cautious since then.

What do you use to fight those dang mosquitos?

you have never been in bed with a mosquito."

It's really not an old wives tale. I used to be an Avon Lady, and it completely works. The make extra of it every summer because so many people use it.

Citronella candles might help too. :)

Carmie, looks like your ready for war on the skeeters, good luck, seems like the little black ones are more terrible this year down south,we have our skeeter vac going 24/7.
And I think that is your blood on your curtain, cause skeeters don't have much blood of their own,
rhut row!

Oh great post!! Mosquitoes have been biting me left and right!! I'm going to kill them if I get my hands on them. Was the Avon spray very oily and heavy?

Well, with all the products you have tried, you are an expert on the subject of what works and what doesn't. I'm definitely going to try the Yankee Candle outside...I just hate that I can't even sit outside in the evening because of the skeeters. Thanks so much for this information.

Hi Carmie!
I just realized I never clicked on to follow you - so now I am your newest follower! Thanks for stopping by - yes how nice of my neighbor to give out my phone #... Anyway, yes I have used the Skin So Soft on the kids and myself because I don't like to use chemicals on them. I think the Skin So Soft works because before we started using it we were totally bitten up at the beach...I mean REALLY bad. Anyway, I also just read that rubbing vanilla extract or fresh lavender on you keeps them away because they hate the smell. I have yet to try those! Hope all is well!

I've always been a mosquito magnet, which is (I'm sure) why I'm invited to everyone's outdoor summer parties.

Fortunately, my hubby heard about a product that I promptly ordered. (He has to suffer with me when I suffer, so he was excited to hear of it.)

I would swear on a stack of Bibles or my mother's life that this works better than anything I've ever tried, and no, they don't pay me for any of my endorsements, although I've tried to get them to.

Anyway, it consists of self-adhesive patches that have a vitamin B & basically nothing else. Apparently, they work to fool the little devils into not being able to smell you attractive scent they love so much.

If you smoke and/or drink you need to wear more than one patch, but I tell you they work!!!As long as I remember to put them on before going out, I stay bite free & have for the last 3 summers.

It's called the "Don't Bite Me" patch. Just Google it to find their website. Good luck!!!
