. . . and I am pissed!

This show was on for only two episodes and I loved it!

I thought the lead guy, James Wolk

was so hot and sexy and the story line a good one.

How does a network cancel something after just two episodes?

It was in a bad time slot going against that train wreck "Dancing with the Stars" which I must admit, I am onboard the DWTS train wreck.

Oh well Lone Star. I loved ya for at least two weeks!

Fall Wreath Makeover

Usually, I just stick the old Fall wreath on the door and call it a day.

But, you bloggers you!

You inspire me.

So, I took last year's wreath which is looking a little sparse (and sad) . . .

. . . purchased a whole bunch of 99cent flower groupings from Michaels . . .

. . . and Viola! A new wreath that is so bountiful and colorful and beautious!

My Subscription Has Ended

Alas, no good dates.

Southampton's Last Days of Summer along Dune Road

Well, we've visited the horrible Babette's in East Hampton for lunch and then strolled through a Hampton's Farmstand. Now, heading along Dune Road we stopped at Southampton's Dolphin Lane Beach.
The houses were gorgeous! The day was beautiful! The beach - SPECTACULAR!
Every time I visit the beach, I say a pray to God thanking him for such outrageous beauty located so close to home.

Hamptons Farmstand

After our horrendous lunch at Babette's in East Hampton (which you can read about a few posts ago) and after walking off said horrendous meal, Wendy and I drove west and spotted a wonderful farmstand in Southampton (or was it Bridgehampton?).

Look at all these tomatoes!
And sunflowers. They were around $13 a bunch. I didn't buy any as my backyard is filled with them. Thank you Dad!
But what I was jonesing for were these pumpkins. So I picked up a white and a "regular" one.

Don't you just love farmstands and fall?!

As I have seen in one autumnal face."

My Visit to The Martha Stewart Show

I blogged here about my trip to see The Martha Stewart Show last year and how I was going again.

Well, yesterday was the day!

My friend Marie and I met at Penn Station and walked a short distance to the studio which is located in Chelsea. Since we didn't have to be at the studio until 12:30, we decided to get some brunch at The Dish.

How delightful to eat a delicious omelet that cost $7.50 unlike that piece of $18.95 rubber crap that I ate last Friday at Babette's of East Hampton!

We arrived at the audience entrance at around the designated time and there was already a crowd gathered.

When you receive your email instructions about the taping, it clearly states several times to dress to impress. Wear bright colors. No black, gray, t-shirts or prints. I would say half the people looked like they just got out of bed or had just finished washing windows.

People! You are going to be on tv! I was dressed in a turquoise top and skirt with really nice dangley, beaded earrings and Marie looked like Martha Stewart.

After receiving our tickets, we went through security and into a "holding room" where we signed release forms. On the walls are posters of Martha's books and publications. Comedian Joey Kola gave us our instructions and told us what was happening on the show that day.
On the show was a segment with JCrew, actor Justin Long, facial yoga and two craft segments.

The show is scheduled to air tomorrow, September 16.

We were called in by groups according to the color or number on our ticket. As we waited to be seated, we figured that since we were in the back of the line, we would be in the back of the studio audience.Oh no. Not us.

We were escorted by one of the producers to the floor level, middle section literally 5 feet from Martha!! I couldn't believe it. There are three floor sections consisting of about 8 people in each section.

See - it pays to follow Martha's instructions and wear bright colors! HAHA, all of you gray shirt, dirty jeans wearing audience members.

This was the view from my seat of the audience.

Here are some photos of the studio and prep kitchen.

Look at all that JCrew stuff!

Martha's dogs were in the house and came out with her for the show. This is the back of GK getting ready for the show.

Compared to last year when I was sitting in the back, our seats could not have been better.

When Martha came out, she was so close. She is tall and very skinny and of course, beautiful.

The first segment was with JCrew and I was hoping Jenna Lyons would be there but there was some other JCrew person who I must say needs some tv training. She was not that good.

From JCrew, we received this canvas tote bag
and Jenna Lyon's favorite Essie nail polish, Canteloupe.

I am not going to lie to you. When we heard JCrew was in the house, visions of $250 gift cards or leather totes danced in our heads as it is Fashion Week in Manhattan. But alas, our tote will do just fine.

Justin Long taped three segments with Martha cooking Linguine and Lobster. I have liked him since he was on that show "Ed" and I have to tell you, he was hysterical. So funny I thought Martha was going to lose it.

Next was facial yoga with Martha's niece and two craft segments with Erica Domesek. I thought the crafts were very doable, fashionable and fun. And, we received her book.

After the taping, Martha took a few questions off camera which consisted of "What do I do with my gardenia plant?" "What do I do with all that mint in my garden?" "What color gray is on the walls of the studio?" "Have you gone to any fashion shows this week?" And, "Will you sign my daughter's wooden spoon?"
A great day in the city with my good friend Marie at The Martha Stewart Show. The Martha staff were very nice and like their boss, do their jobs very precisely.

Hope this post makes you feel as if you were there. Let me know if you have any questions.

Can't wait to go back!

Babette's of East Hampton Restaurant Review

Last Friday, I headed out to the Hamptons to visit Wendy, a friend of mine who lives out east. It was a beautiful day but crowded as it was the Jewish New Year. It was filled with B&T's - bridge and tunnel people.

We decided to eat lunch at Babettes in East Hampton. This is in the inside of Babette's.
I had eaten here before - four years ago. I remember the food being fresh and delicious and not that expensive.

Not so much this time. It was horrendous.

I ordered the Parisian omelet which was "filled" with asparagus, tomatoes and cheese.

I have never eaten rubber but if I had, I am sure it would have tasted like this omelet from Babette's.

Utterly tasteless.

It is my fault because after one bite, I should have sent it back and ordered something else. But I did not.

The toast was like cardboard and I was sure I was going to lose a filling. The potatoes tasted like they were leftovers from dinner service from the night before.

Had the waitress (older woman with blond hair and glasses) come over to ask how our food was, I would have told her the truth. But she never stopped by - not once. She passed our table several times mind you. But, nothing.

And are you ready? Guess how much this rubber cost me.

$18.95 !!

Can you freakin believe it? The nerve of these people. You think that for this price I would have at least gotten a decent meal.

There are many delicious options in the Hamptons to dine.

Babette's is certainly not one of them.

The Martha Stewart Show - Here I Come!

Next week, I will be attending a taping of the Martha Stewart Show. It will not be my first time as I went last October. Martha is now on the Hallmark Channel and I have already set my DVR to her show, her daughter's show titled Whatever, Everyday Food and Mad Hungry, the show with Lucinda Scala Quinn. Can't wait!

Last year, the studio was decorated for Halloween. It is a beautiful space. A bit cold but I guess it has to be with all of those lights. The taping took place on the day her newest cookbook launched. We all went home with the book.
We also took home a plant. Not that easy to carry on the train. In addition, I called Monrovia for assistance on how to take care of said plant. They never returned my call and alas, said plant is in plant heaven.
Martha is a task master. She shot 7 segments for the live taping and was efficient and on point. At the end, off camera, she took some questions. I of course had my hand raised and asked her besides her own, what was her favorite cookbook.
She said that the original Joy of Cooking (not the re-issue) and Julia Child's were her favorites.

Tune in next week to see how the taping goes.

L'ete est fini . . .

"I really don't know why it is that all of us are so committed to the sea, except I think it's because in addition to the fact that the sea changes, and the light changes, and ships change, it's because we all came from the sea.

And it is an interesting biological fact that all of us have, in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean, and, therefore, we have salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears.

We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea - whether it is to sail or to watch it - we are going back from whence we came."
